Stegosaurus
The Stegosaurus dinosaur, meaning "roof lizard", lived in the Late Jurassic Epoch roughly 145 million years ago. Its distinctive armor plating was likely decoration, with the spiked tails offering defense. It was discovered during the Bone Wars of Dinosaur Ridge, but not a museum staple until around 1955. It can be observed in countless museums today, thanks to casts.
